F5Weather provides weather forecast computer model guidance to private, government & on-air meteorologists, utility, insurance & construction companies, traders, farmers, emergency management, storm chasers, hobbiests and anyone else impacted by weather.
Many of our customers are private & on-air meteorologists. So we continually strive to provide the data in formats that professionals ask for. This includes not only maps & Skew-T soundings, but also a map data inspector and raw data tables. We continue to work on adding more models and unique ways to view the weather data.
Free weather maps are available to the casual user. We allow basic viewing of our basic NAM, GFS, HRRR & GEM computer models. If you're just interested in playing around with getting some basic weather forecast information, then our free maps are for you. However, if you're more into weather to the point where you want to compare the best computer models in the world and do a more professional forecast utilizing as many resources as possible; then you probably want a Basic or Pro account.
We generate global forecast graphics from premium models like the European ECMWF, British UKMET (Unified Model) & Australian ACCESS-G. We have medium range models like the American GFS-FV3, Ensembles (ECMWF ENS, GEFS & GEPS), & short range models like NAM & HRRR. We even make graphics from Model Output Statistics (MOS).
Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) guidance is sourced from the United States' National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP), The European Center for Medium-range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), United Kingdom's Met Office, Australia's Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) and other sources.
Weather data that the professionals use.
Besides the various models to choose from, some navigation options include: many regional and global views, unlimited zooming, data at mouse position, values at major cities, archived data, data in table form, Skew-T soundings, Atlantic & Pacific hurricane tracking maps, US & Canada satellite & radar, radar estimated snowfall & snow depth maps. There are also various navigation setting options and overlays like cities and roads.
Our Basic account adds the European ECMWF HRES model; which is widely regarded as the world's best weather forecast model. Our Pro account gives you ECMWF, but also adds on other leading models from Britain, MetOffice's UKMET Unified Model and the Australian ACCESS-G. Professional accounts also give you global Ensemble Means from ECMWF (ENS), GFS (GEFS) and GEM (GEPS); as well as bias-corrected Model Output Statistics from the US NAM and GFS models. We also try to throw in our own unique data into the mix such as our 3-Ensemble Mean where we take a simple average of the 3 major Ensembles to give you an idea of the overall pattern expected over time.
Simple satellite and radar products are also included. Our Radar data is noise-filtered and colorized utilizing a proprietary precipitation-type algorithm to identify rain, snow and mixed precipitation types. We also have an experimental radar-detected snowfall map as the storm is occuring. It utilizes the cleaned up radar data and combines it with HRRR 'observations' to determine a snowfall estimate that updates with every radar scan.
